You are made to push the baby out, that will not be an issue. And, if something does happen that you're having a hard time, there are things the dr can do, like a vacuum, to help you, but those are rarely needed. I remember my doctor stuck his hand inside of me and used his pointer finger and thumb to kind of "pluck" my baby out, just to be helpful! So don't worry. It's over before you know it, and then you have a beautiful baby, you don't even remember what it was like! Congrats and good luck!

Maybe you can look into getting a Doula or Labor Coach. You can type in Doula and your city and state on Yahoo! and see if one comes up. You can ask at the hospital. Look in the yellow pages.
Of course, your body will work to push the baby out. It is as natural as going to the bathroom.
Some things you can do to help are: stay upright as long as possible. Walk when and if you can. Don't ever lay on your back (you have to fight gravity) lay on your side. A nurse can tell you which side is best. Practice squatting with your feet flat before the big day. then on that day your muscles will be able to do it. Try putting your arms up over your head, in front of you not directly above you.
Also, keep your chin tucked in with contractions. Tuck your shoulders in and make deep sounds from the bottom of your throat. High sounds close you up causing labor to last longer.
This may sound silly, but make a smiling face. You don't have to mean it. But it does help to open you up.
Stay in control and pay attention to what your body is doing. Which muscles are moving when.
Just some things to help you through.
You can do it. Women do it every day. *smile*

I was the same way, freaking out about the pain, I was even wishing I could have a c-section just to avoid this, but then came the big day and I pushed him out and having him put on my belly immediately after made it all worth it. Yes there was pain, but I don't even remember it now and as far as pushing, you know when it is time to push and you just do it, it just comes naturally. Good Luck, you will be great and have a great reward for your hard work!! :)

As far as pushing the baby out, don't be flat on your back. Be in a reclining or even a squatting position. That way, gravity will help you to get the baby out. It will speed up the pushing stage.

your body is designed to give birth, have you ever thought about birthing and labor classes maybe you would benefit from them or get yourself some videos or even go onto youtube. All you gotta do is relax as much as you can during labor push as hard as you can don't scream while pushing coz that just makes the hole pushing part longer. You midwife will guide you through it all. don't worry!!

You will be fine, the drs/nurses will help you right along. I was worried that I wouldn't know what to do either, but you "woman instincts" just KICK IN. It will not be that bad, and you will have a wonderful baby in the end. You will be just fine.

trust and listen to your body - push when your body tells you to, it is hard work but you don't get anything for nothing- Try to breathe through your contractions and dont tense as this will make them hurt more, i gave birth naturally with no drugs or gas & air, you can do it!
