I've been doing fine art for the past 3-4yrs.
Have not touch maths in ages.
19yrs old now. I thinking of going back to study something in the mainstream.
Got accepted into Psych. But, there are some in fact ALOT OF MATHS.
statistics, calculus, Logarithimics, etc.
Is it really tough ? Do you think its passable for a art student ???
Any tips ???
or, am i just planning for failure ?

As suggested, at least algebra to be able to comprehend statistics...then, always remember my fave stats textbook "How to Lie with Statistics" !!! LOL
Then, how about a PsyD track vs. a PhD one? The PhD track is the one that purports to be 'scientific'. It's not really, just mathematical mumbo - jumbo and supposedly you then qualify to interpret the psych test....which always were and always will be, mere tools. That any competent 'artistic' clinician can trump - for evaluation, assessment and treatment planning.
I have grieved that my beloved "art" was stillborn !! Psychology. And it does my heart good that some can see that is is sorely needed and absolutely fascinating, stimulating and creative. But, not via the PhD process. That process is for the purpose of indoctrinating the candidate in a 'scientific' mindset in a domain that should have remained - artistic.

I got a degree in psych, so you can too. First, take an assessment test to find out where you are in math. Then take whatever courses you need to bring you up to speed. You must get through algebra in order to pass stats, but it's not too difficult. Check with the study skills center at your school to see if they have a tutor who can help you over the hard parts, then use the help. Good luck.

Wow, When I majored in Psych, we had to take a basic stats class. Even back then, programs were on computer. why bother learing to computate all that crap when you can just plug in the data. calculus....never. A BA/BS in psych is bascially b.s, unless you're going for a PhD.

I've never heard of having to take so much math for a psych degree. I had to take a 'math reasoning' class which was basically addition and subtraction in word problems and a stats class.
The rest of the classes you need like English, History...those core things can be a pain but they aren't difficult.
As for the psych classes, they are very interesting. You'll enjoy them so you will do fine. I'd double check the maths though. I've never heard of that. Unless you are going for a PhD which may involve a lot of research geared information, there really isn't much of a need for the math.

i know how you feel
they make us take things that we don't use in every day life right?
it suck, i have the same situation because i am done with things in my major but i have Bio, Maths to take and it make me want to stop but i will take step by step and finish this suject and get my degree.
it's suck because if you think about it we don't really use those stuff, but we will finish it.

Math is an almost useless subject. Even mathematicians admit that one can never understand math, you just become accostomed to it.
