Why does any take drugs? Possibly it was to supress pain from injuries from juping of the top of a 18' Steel Cage or maybe he just wasn't happy and the drugs where an escape to place where he thought he was happy.
As for being a druggie he no longer takes drugs he has done the sensible thing and gone through rehab and found something in which he can lose himself and be happy ie Wrestling and Art. And just maybe having taken drugs and over coming their influence will make him an even better person.

Check your facts.... He's a RECOVERING drug addict. He hasn't taken drugs for at least over a year.
He was fired for not wanting to take a drug test in 2006. He went to TNA did great but didn't feel like they were using him like he hoped. Between missing the WWE and realizing he needed help. He cleaned himself up and has been off drugs for over a year.
I personally know how destructive drugs are and how they distort a persons perception of themselves. Even though it took a wake up call by the way of getting fired, he did it on his own and it took a lot of courage to openly admit his drug problems and conquer them. He has my respect and support all the way!!

Some people just like drugs, it doesnt make them bad people...I think Jeff is now mostly clean aside from marijuana because otherwise hed have failed the Wellness Policy again but him still being around indicates hes clean

i would seriously doubt that with Jeff being given a push on Raw right now with a title shot at the Royal Rumble.Plus the Wellness Policy is active within WWE right now.So there's no escaping for anyone.Jeff's fine dude !!
