i wanted some new wine glasses, a new purse and a new make up bag, and didn't get one of the above,but I am very happy with what I did get, should I be more obvious? Do you think saying 'I'm running out of wine glasses' was not obvious enough? Did you do any better

Actually didn't have to clue my nearest and dearest in.....for some reason he was really good at knowing me this year.
Perhaps your sweetie though that wine glasses were more of a household thing to just go out and buy rather then it be a gift for you. Wine glasses are used by all. I think you stated it perfectly clearning that you needed them. However some people don't always buy what you need or want.
What did you sweetie get you instead? Maybe is was something that was for more of your own personal use. Perhaps he/she wasn't confident in selecting a purse you would like......make up bag I have no reasoning for you on that one other then they already went over their limit on other things.

I dropped some amazingly unsubtle (I thought) hints about a certain CD. Unfortunately, they were more subtle than I thought and so Someone Who Shall Remain Nameless asked me to buy myself whatever I wanted and send the bill over.
I got the CD though :)
