If you did, what was your best buy? I must be every Husband's dream because, believe it or not, I have NEVER, EVER, shopped in the sales.
I must be the world's worst shopper. I loathe it at the best of times. Clothes and shoes are the worse thing. I only buy them when I am desperate....or naked! Lol!
I am not a recluse by any standard but I just couldn't stand the crowds either. Am I alone here?

OK people, I stand corrected. Let's just cut out January from my Q shall we and refer to the sales that start on Boxing Day. Why are you all so picky?

That makes 3 of us then! We can't stand all the pushing & shoving from folks during the January sales. We only buy clothes when we need them like you do & we could not imagine keeping up to date with fashion lol. Have never seen the point of buying clothes or shoes etc when we have perfectly decent stuff already. We did buy ourselves new winter jackets earlier this year before the colder weather came in & we've also bought a pair of walking boots each from Cotton Traders.....they were half price which is why we bought them but apart from that we've not bought anything else.
I get claustrophobic in large crowds & Tc has had panic attacks too so us & crowds don't gel very well LOL.
Does this make me the perfect, dream wife but also Tc the perfect dream hubby then LOL. xx

Just got back after shopping in the sales...got 320GBPounds worth for 48...an absolute 'steal'. Best buy......mmmmmm...a superb little top that is bug proof, UV 30+ easy care and the most delicious mint green shade....4, yes 4!! pounds (and I got it home and IT FITS!) my first time in ages that I went to the sales. Like you I hate the queues and the crowds. We Brits may be good at queuing, but oh, how I wish we were more like New Yorkers in crowds...they never seem to bump into people, but over here no-one seems able to walk in a straight line for more than 2 seconds!!
Even so, it was an enjoyable way to pass an hour.
Just now a very 'happy bun'

I will hit some of the sales in January out of necessity. I need some new towels, sheets and bras. But, I only go to places that have the early morning sales that open between 6-8am. I don't like crowds either and always go to the grocery store during those early hours also.I'll bet you are your husband's dream. LOL

No, it takes money and I hate crowds and I wonder where the person is from in Iowa as I live in Ann Arbour, Michigan and not only are we having January Days, they already have the Valentine's Day stuff out and that isn't even until Feb. 14th of 2008.

Ought to try going shopping with me some time. I bad mouth everyone. The stores are too crowded and even when you are the first person in the store you can't find any salespeople for help cause they are all out having a smoke or just S.T.S. and are hoping they don't have to talk to anyone and if they do they are usually snotty. And little kids who are allowed to run wild makes me want to stick my foot out and trip them into a large display stand. Then you see the women who have to stop in the middle of an aisle where you want to go and block the whole thing to talk about their latest trek to the hospital and what all that is wrong with them. I can tell them what is wrong with them, they look like parked buses and are dumber than used bricks. And when I go to get shoes, the salesman/woman hasn't a clue what the hell they are doing. They measure your foot then bring a pair of shoes one size too small thinking you can get your foot into those things and when you can't they say maybe you need special shoes. I usually say something like maybe you need glasses cause these are too small or maybe you should go back to school and learn to read numbers, cause in this job you are obviously a moron. But then, that is just me. I hate shopping unless I only have rags to wear.

firstly - its not January yet.
And January sales is just another way of saying that the prices are now not as inflated, since the xmas rush...increased demand, prices increased.
Law of economics supply=demand (prices stable)
more supply>demand=(price decrease)
>supply
increase price of petrol=everything goes up
I am like you. I have a love/hate relationship with shopping, and if I could would buy everything from a catalogue. But its good therapy to get out and about and you can't cut it out all together.

I have also never gone to the after Christmas sales. I have
gone to return something during that period tho. And the last
time I had to return something, I saw they had a clearance on
tree balls, and I picked up a couple of boxes after getting
my return taken care of. They were half price and so that was
a good buy. That was when Montgomery Wards was still in
business.

I hate shopping anytime. If I desperately need something, I'll order it online so I don't have to weed through the garbage and the crowds in stores.
I consider it a blessing that I do not have the "shopaholic gene" LOL

My town has only one shop with a sale going on, and in there there are only certain goods on sale. I wanted to buy myself from cutlery but the stingy people cannot be bothered to put that on the sale shelf!
