I know that all mother's think their kids are gorgeous, but..... My friend is very attractive for a woman in her 50's, her daughter on the other hand is very masculine looking, doesn't do a thing to make herself look any better. She has eyebrows like two catepillars across her forehead, her eyes are crooked, doesn't wear a stitch of makeup (and she needs it BADLY,) and basically she looks like the Cat in the Hat (if he was human.) She has two grandchildren, the little boy is adorable and the little girl....well is a carbon copy of her mother...poor baby.
We work together and she has pictures of them all over her desk, when people stop by to chat with her, she's always showing off her pictures...People make comments on how cute the little boy is, but say stuff like 'Oh your daughter must look like her Dad, or uh huh, very nice.' And that "oh the baby looks just like her mom (and roll their eyes when she isn't looking.) I guess I should just look the other way, right?

Also she brags that her daughter looks just like her, I've told her, that she doesn't look anything like her (and I feel like adding, don't insult yourself like that.)

I forgot to add that her daughter is obnoxious, rude, disrepectful and uses her mother to dump her kids on and not pay her at every opportunity....in other words she is definately a piece of &*)$

I wouldn't tell her that her daughter was ugly, but I have said things to my friend like "you're definately the one with all the looks in the family."

Her daughter's personality is what really makes her ugly, she doesn't hesitate to use her mother for free babysitting services and to run errands for her all the time (the mother works a full and a part time job, daughter works 1 35-40 hr wk job.) She also is into all of her mother's businessiness, especially financial and doesn't hesitate to take her check book and credit cards away from her mother when she thinks she's spending too much money. She also thinks it's normal to call your mother up and scream at her, call her foul names and threaten her when she doesn't do as she tells her to. I'm sorry but I have no respect for someone that has the nerve to treat the person into the world tht way.

Just keep your mouth closed. If ever there was a time to exercise restraint and tact, this is definitely it.

Beauty is so subjective. What one person thinks is attractive another may find hideous.
I'm sure there are some people who find you attractive while others think you are as ugly as sin.
Since beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder there is never a wrong answer to the question "Is she or he pretty or handsome?"
As far as make up. I find make up on women to be very unappealing. It's like a mask. I prefer a women who takes care of herself and keeps herself well groomed but without putting on make up. Big turn off.
If her daughter has obnoxious behavior, then talk about that, but leave out the comments about her looks because that has nothing to do with how she acts.
By the way, I find some of your remarks to be very ugly (Cat in the Hat, etc.). If you would concern yourself with your own personality and attitude half as much as you do the looks of this woman's children, then perhaps you would be a better person on the inside where it really counts.
I bid you peace.

Damnnnnnnnnn!!!! If she really is ur friend, dont hurt her feelings by telling her that her daughter is a monster. Wow, from what I read, it reminds me of an old favorite of mine " The Munster's " Everybody in the family always thought Marylin was the weird and odd looking one, when other people thought the whole family was hideous. So don't hurt ur friends feels by telling her that her daughter is hideous, just keep it to urself the way Lily and the family did on the Munster's.

Why would you want to tell her that she is ugly? Let the woman say what she wants it isnt hurting anybody.
I see everything else that you added about the daughter - and again what is the point of you saying anything to the mother? What is the goal - what will it accomplish? You already know what you see as the truth why is that not enough for you?

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" You should be polite and just changed the subject when she talks about her child. I would be so hurt if a friend (or at least a person who calls themself my friend) said my child was ugly. If she has children someone was attracted to her. Her being ugly is just your personal opinion, one you should keep to yourself. I am quite sure you are not perfect and someone probably thinks you are ugly... would you want someone to tell you that?

EXCUSE ME???????
BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER.
LET'S NOT EVEN MENTION
BEAUTY IS ONLY SKIN DEEP.
SO WHILE YOU MAY THINK YOU WERE GIVEN SOME RIGHT TO JUDGE
SOMEONE ELSES APPEARANCE?
STAND YOURSELF IN FRONT OF A MIRROR,
AND ASK
YOURSELF..........
DOES YOUR HEART MATCH WHAT YOU THINK IS BEAUTY?
I WOULD THINK NOT JUST BY READING YOUR QUESTION.
SHE IS PROUD OF HER FAMILY WHY SHOULD SHE FEEL SHAME BECAUSE OF YOUR OPINION
DONT TAKE MORAL INVENTORY ON ANYONE UNTILL YOU HAVE TAKEN ONE ON YOURSELF!

A mother is always going to think of their children as beautiful even if no one else see's it. Beauty isnt all about your outside appearence, its more about the person on the inside. I think it would be rude to say anything like that to her mother besides it might cause you a bad work environment..
