First off, there's a difference between hole and whole. Whole means entire. But yes, the Harry Potter books are enjoyable to read.

Let me ask you this; you know how at the end of all the Harry Potter films there's a huge badass battle? Well in the sixth movie there is no battle in the film. There is nothing. In the book, there's a bad *** battle complete with deaths, ravaging of human flesh, and a funeral. Do you honestly think you've seen the same thing I read? No way. Read the books. Start with the 4th or the 5th. They're easier to read. Then go back and read the rest of them in order. The more boring first and second ones are easier to get through when you're already invested in the series.

3. Prisoner of Azkaban
4. Goblet of Fire

6. Half- blood Prince
7. Deathly Hallows
If you need help understanding anything about these books email me and I will help you understand.

I have never read a series more cleverly created or as satisfying as the Harry Potter books. I would DEFINITELY recommend them. I think the fact that there are so many fans of the books speaks for itself. I have read the first book at least 15 times! Make sure you read them in order and I promise, you will really enjoy reading them.

If you decide not to read them, you will have made the worst decision you have ever made in your entire lifetime!!! Harry Potter is the best novel series that I have ever read and I love it to pieces. I do not know what my life would be like now without that amazing series. The story is extremely imaginative and beautiful in many ways. J.K. Rowling is truly a wonderful writer. It is a MUST read!! You will (or should) fall in love after the first few pages of Philosopher's Stone.
You should also learn how to spell a little better through reading the series too ^.^! (Only joking).

You should read what you like but you'll never know what that is until you try out different books. I think your Dad is just encouraging you because he thinks once you read one HP book you will read the others. I know people who don't usually like to read that DID read all the HP books. Reading an entire series from any author is a good experience.
I'll leave you alone on the whole vs hole issue. Enough people have pointed that out already but if you read more your vocabulary usually improves as well as your spelling. :-)

Yes! (Yes, you should, and yes, they are.) Start with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's [or Philosopher's] Stone. You're almost certain to become hooked, and you're lucky to be starting after the series is complete, so that you won't have to wait a year or two for the next one.
