CaSO4+2NH4OH--->Ca(OH)2+ (NH4)2SO4 (ammonium sulfate)

You want to use a double decomposition reaction, and remove an insoluble compound of calcium.

Ammonia (ammonium hydroxide) has already been suggested, but I would prefer ammonium carbonate, since calcium carbonate is less soluble than calcium hydroxide.

I assume this is a study exercise. I cannot imagine why anyone would want to do this commercially.
