How far can those cars go before they have to be recharged? What drives the electricity? Coal? Oil? Water? We use oil in plastics, so look around you, you have oil products all around you.

I have never heard anyone in the media refer to him as the worst former President. Don't know where you're getting that from. He is actually rather well respected. His Carter center has worked on Peace initiatives, human rights and fair election monitoring worldwide for years. He got the Nobel Peace prize for it, for heavens sake! Does that sound like a loser to YOU? He got Egypt and Israel a peace treaty, which amazingly enough has stood the test of time.

Well Bob...
The problem isn't our interest in the Middle East is Oil.
We get more oil from Canada and Mexico than we get from the Middle East.... and of course there is the domestic production.
Having a more fuel efficient lifestyle and increased use of different forms of energy will have no effect on the murderous antics of Islam. In fact, they would probably step up their murderous attacks on others if the money started drying up over there.
The problems from the middle east come from the intolerance and ignorance of the people there... not the oil.
Warm regards,
Douglas

Best Regards.

We need to make important political decisions concerning energy independence and treat this as seriously as we do using the military in hotspots overseas. It is, as the kids say, a no brainer. We need better leadership in Congress and in the White House!

No those people who bombed the US are fanatics. They are people brainwashed by some men who are teaching ' God' (or if they are really teaching what he says). Even if the US stops intefering the region for its own intersest(s) they would not stop until the country is in ruins

Lillian is missing the point, as well as most people seem to.
Tesla's car is electric and electricity must be generated by oil or coal or whatever. But the car is more efficient. It's stretching the mpg to 135. The car recharges in about 2 hours and goes several hundred miles on a charge.
If every vehicle in the USA used this technology, oil prices would drop by at least 75%.
