I think Vicky-Sh is right about the Russel Brand book, as I read part of it in the G2 of "the Guardian" although this isn't a book to write an essay about, or read in class, its more of a hobby reading book(entertaining). If you are looking for a book to discuss in class then Ann Frank is a good idea, its been read for many years and there is a lot to be said about it. Or best of all read both and see which one you like best :):):)

"behind closed doors" by Jenny Tomlin excellent reading if a bit heavy! The follow up is "silent sister's" This is story of Martine Mc Cutcheon's Mother growing up in the east end of London and the awful physical, mental and sexual abuse she and her brother's and sister's suffered at the hands of their cruel bully of a Father. I highly recommend this book.

This is a must read.Moab is my Washpot by Stephen Fry. It is by turns deeply moving, side splittingly funny and of course beautifully written. Yes I can definitely recommend it.

The one by Sharon Osbourne is apparently both touching and highly amusing. I haven't read it myself as yet, but with the comments I've heard about it, I'll certainly be giving it a go.

My brother just got the Richard Hammond one, and he hasn't put it down yet. Not bad for someone who normally only reads the Argos catalogue!
