To be frank, I think that a lot of people have just become so use to advertisements and "WE WANT YOUR MONEY!!" stuff that they ignore and pass off any "please helps" without thought. The most effective way to get donations is to seek out a very narrow demographic for people interested in what you're doing.

I don't mind donating, but when I've joined charitable clubs or done volunteer work I've found that they expect a very big time commitment which I can't give. I don't party, go out for dinners or have a social life. I have two little kids at home and no-one else to look after them. When I was at uni I was very busy studying and working. I helped where I could but I couldn't commit a definite 6 hours a week or whatever they were asking.

I guess when people have time or money to donate they want to do it on their own terms because they are giving it for free. I can understand why the groups need a commitment too, but sometimes the expectation of the club and the limitations on the volunteer don't match, and that's when people quit. If it becomes stressful they'd rather not have it in their lives.

Yes, because money is of satan, and it tempts, and I have seen even holy people fall prey to the trappings of money. I would definitely not be party to a fundraising campaign if I am not managing the money. I am responsible to the people that participated and donated in my fundraising campaign, and the misuse of the money. If I do not manage or have no control over the money, then I should not participate in the fundraising campaign. I become a accomplice and a crook, duper, fraud etc. for no reason at all or maybe due to my foolishness.
