the reason i asked is i have read of bare knuckle boxing matches that went 40+rounds and couldnt see that happening in this day and age

it's because way back then...people have to be tough and strong in doing anything.everything is a struggle.nowadays,ppl are changed with machineries and whatnots.life is much simpler and ppl just tend to be weaker too...
i guess it is about being spoilt for choices...

I think they are. There is no need to be strong. If they can't do something they hire someone or buy something to do it for them. If they have no money to pay, they expect the government to do it for them!!

Yep, thanks to technology making our lives much easier.
Most of us wouldn't be able to handle it if we were to go back to living like they did 100 yrs ago!
