all these americans who passed first time...weaners...
i am turning 21 next week. i have done my test 4 times in total and spent an insane amount of money. i am in so much debt it makes me want to cry. actually i have cried about this several times.
you see i really need to pass my driving test because i'm a medical student and i have to travel a lot so not having a car is a major disadvantage.
keep at it. i gave up after my first fail and didn't take it up again for 2 years. then i had to start again from scratch. you'll get there in the end. as i hope i will! x
ps my next test is on the 8th wish me luck i need it! :p

You've been learning for a year!!!! If I were you I'd take the hint, some people were just not meant to be behind the wheel of a car. ;o)
Seriously though, don't rush it. You and your instructor will know when it's time for the test. It's all about confidence and control.
Good luck and remember when you pass, then it's time to really learn how to drive.
Oh yeah, I passed with about 10 lessons (one a week) but that was a long long time ago

I had my 1st lesson in the May at the end of the lesson he said he will put me in for my test 6 lessons later i passed, it took a total of 6 weeks but to be fair that was 21 years ago and it was a lot easier then no theory or class room stuff we didn't even have to park the car. If you keep with it you will pass sooner or later good luck.

I passed a month ago, but it took me a whole year! I started off with a teacher who never turned up, then went on to a guy who kept me for a year not actually doing anything (we were just driving round continuously) then went on to my final teacher and within three weeks he let me apply for a test and I passed first time.
Your teacher really controls when you will take your test, if you feel that you are a good enough driver but your teacher won't let you apply then get a second opinion! My second driving instructer was just taking the mick really!

Probably about 3 years, I failed first time, had an 18 month break ( I'll start lessons again next week...no next week lol ) then passed 2nd time.
My daughters been 2 years now, she can't pass the theory lol
Keep telling her to stick at it, it's worth the full licence, handy for work / prospective employers. Good Luck!

I'm learning at the moment too. Had a really sh*t lesson last week. Nerves got the better of me. Got another lesson this afternoon though, so I'm just gonna concentrate and go for it.
If you've been learning fom January, that's quite a long time. Maybe change your Drving Instructor, sounds like he's doing you out of money.

it took me a year and a half because my first driving instructor used to make me cry which destroyed all my confidence.
however, i built up so much confidence and experience in that time, it was worth the wait.
my boyfriend passed in 6 lessons and i think i am a better and safer driver than him. i always say i was learning to drive whereas he was learning to pass the test.
keep at it, it will be well worth the wait when you do pass!
good luck!

too long, I failed the first test, then aced the second with a 98%. Gets a bit nervous when you get just 3 shots and then you have to wait 3 months to give it another go if you botch all of them.
