I want to assume you want a "tight" fit? Is the alcove 2 MM wide?

Certainly without knowing any details about the construction of the alcove, we can only offer suggestions in hopes they work. Is the "alcove" open on both sides? Like a former passage way? OR is it just a section of a wall, recessed? Is it an arched ceiling? Flat across at the top?

Certainly some form of bracketing might? Cleats on opposing sides of the alcove to support the shelving. creating the shelving on legs, much like a book case, might be effective?

A few details would be helpful.
