I begged my doctor to take me at 35 weeks because he was hurting me so bad. He rode me low low. He explained to me that even though he is bigger, his lungs and such wasn't quite ready. He sadi that a girl develops more faster and that he would have considered it then, but with a boy he wouldn't try to take it until at least 37 weeks. Sorry, but if you can just hold a few more weeks you'll be ok

When was the ultrasound taken or done? If the ultrasound was taken during the 20th weeks of pregnancy or during the 2nd trimester, your ultrasound result is 90 - 95% accurate to tell you what is the age in weeks of the baby. This means that your due date based on your last menstrual period and the result in weeks of pregnancy by ultrasound, is almost the same, or has only a couple of days difference. But if this ultrasound was done during the 3rd trimester or beyond 28 weeks age of gestation, your due date based on last menses and the ultrasound result has a longer difference. This is usually 75 - 85% accurate. 34 weeks based on last menses is quite young and he/she is not yet viable or premature and cannot stand to live without the intervention of modern technology. Lungs are not yet mature to function normally.

just because the baby is bigger than average doesn't mean his lungs are matured enough to survive without help outside the womb.
Since you are having a caeser anyway I wouln't be too keen to get him out before 38wks because he could still have problems even at 35 weeks and 9 lbs.

Don't listen to what they tell you the weight is. They induced me a week early because they said she would be 10 1/2lbs when she got her she was 8lb 13oz. The ultrasound can be 20% more or less. I would keep waiting it out. The longer the safer.

The doctor told me from ultra sound i was have a very tiny baby, my eldest boy at the time was having surgery and very unwell... and this didnt go down too well that my nearly full term baby was so tiny.....and would need intervention when born.. well my little baby was 8lb 7oz.... yep tiny hey....so the ultra sound does not tell you excactly every time.. you baby needs to be in the womb as long as possible because thats natures way... dont hurry it along let it be... good luck oh and babies born too early usually have trouble feeding.... so why cause more grief if you dont have too.. leave well alone.. be patient..

No because your baby still hasnt matured fully yet, he might be a 10 pound baby when born but doesnt mean he is ready to come now. He still needs time for his lungs and other organs to mature

No, they can not go ahead and take him simply because he is a larger baby because his lungs may not be completely developed. Plus, there is a good chance that the U/S may be incorrect when it comes to his weight because that is simply an estimate of how much the baby weighs.

they try to get you to go at least full term which is 37 or 38 weeeks so that the lungs and brain form correctly and there is no complications. if your doctor does not seem to think its time then its best to either discuss it with him.her or get a second opinion. look at babycentral.com or baby.com to watch the growth of your baby week by week its very helpful and good to know how your baby is growing
