A radio station I listen to asked this question last Christmas season. I called in, then called my wife at work to turn her radio to that station (there's a delay of several minutes when they have callers call in with answers to their questions).
When I was stationed in Antarctica (1972 -73), my wife crocheted/knitted an anatomically correct jock starp out of my old school colors (maroon and gold). I still have it.
My wife and her co-worker almost fell off the floor when they heard me on the radio, especially when the female DJ asked me if my wife "took into consideration the cold or did it still fit?". My wife took my jock strap to work to show her co-worker. They both had a good laugh.

My brother-in-law (little sis' husband) sent my wife and I a calendar made by his cousin who is some kind of performance artist. Each month had a picture of her in a seasonal theme relating to New Orleans, but included things like her wearing a bikini made of meat or covered in strawberry jam. It was pretty unusual. Needless to say it wasn't hung on any wall that year, but we still have it. Odd, huh?

One year on Christmas eve, I was finally getting ready for bed, and I turned off the light before I pulled the covers back. When I got in bed, I could feel something so I jumped back out. My ex husband didn't know what to get me, so he had put $200 in one dollar bills on my side of the bed.It was a pleasant surprise, but I asked him why he just couldn't have put it in a card. LOL

One of our friends, for over 50 years, was visiting and I happened to mention, that I wanted a 13 foot shelf to hang above our arch way between the living room and dining room.
A week later, our friend and his son, came with this beautiful hand made shelf and hung it for our Christmas present.
I love it and it was something I never in my wildest dreams expected I would actually have.

I would have to say some of those things the kids were required to make in school. Never quite sure what they were but had to pretend they were the greatest thing ever. Still have some of them and still don't know what they are.

Here is romance in bloom, for my birthday from the hub---a horse turd fork, a wheelbarrow and a rake and shovel. Mmm, put a smile on my face--I think it meant keep on cleanin' them stalls honey.

My hubby & I received cemetary plots for a gift! They were from my in-laws who purchased them in "bulk" and gave them to their children.
