If those people were taunting and teasing that tiger, that still is not a good reason for her to be able to escape.

I agree. Apparently, the 20 foot wall that is supposed to keep the tigers in their enclosure at the San Francisco Zoo was actually only 12 feet. Experts say that the wall should be at least 16 feet to keep the animals in their enclosure. I can't imagine what the zoo was thinking having it so short and telling the public that it was 20 feet.

You are right, the tiger never should have gotten out of the enclosure.

In countries like India and in Asia tigers kill people. However, it is the person fault for invading tiger territory. A human is an easy prey item for a 400 pound cat to bring down.

This reminds me of a film we were shown at a zoo keeper / animal care /cage design tech course.
-The film showed the grand opening of a new large near natural tiger exhibit, with large bullet proff viewing windows.
-All the local politicians, zoo officials were there as well as tv and news papers.
-The tigers were let into there exhibit for the first time and freaked out with all the yelling and cameras flashing.
-They charged the opening where the noisey crowd was and apparently didn't see the glass.
-They hit the buttet proff glass head on knocking themselves, several politicians and the glass out of its frame. --No one when ordering / designing cage had thought of reinforcing the putty holding glass in.

Tigers were safely sedated & injured frighten people removed.

We were taught to make exhibits safe, stimulating, enviromently enriching for our captive bred stock. --As well as asceticaly appealing to modern educated visitors and more secure , escape proff than human prissons. --After all zoo animals have no fear of humans and though usially more dosile, they can be more dangerous than wilborn animals.

Apart from eathquakes& floods of bibical proportions, all the cages should be escape proff with solid high walls, moats, electric fences & mutliple gates / doors in service areas. with lower viewing safety barriers to protect people from being clawed through bars. (Like lady with bear in Canada)
If people (idiots) torment them, they will still get upset but will just retreat lnto dens. -- If ldiots climb into pens, then who can blame animals, from taking them out of the human geanpool.

Yeah, its called nature, the call of the wild, predation.

Seems to me that particular tiger was in need of a better enclosure tho.

Makes me think of the lion seeing everyone as steaks in the animated movie.

I only hope I can be eatten by some animal when I die.

Inexcusable. Goodness how the hell does it get out. The cages obviously need tops to them.
