memories i hate from 6th grade:
having a teacher bully me (for half an hour) into 'confessing' i'd forged my mom's signature even though they had called her and my mom confirmed that she had signed it.
teacher calling my house and then threatening my older sister because she though it was me on the phone, lying about my mom not being home.
teacher throwing garbage can across the room in a rage. she was angry because she said we probably called her an old witch amongst ourselves. gee.. wonder why she'd think that?
teacher dropping a new schoolbook as she issues it to me, then later says she doesn't remember, charges me $30
i was only 11 so those things made me feel pretty bad.
freshman year:
teachers gossiping about me and giggling. then accusing me of copying a paper because i had 'captured the genre too well'. strange :|
white spanish teacher who cried an entire class period because she though we were making fun of her accent. hahaha

one teacher told my mom that i gave everyone dirty looks and never talked to them. i felt so bad... my only crimes were having naturally arched eyebrows (i guess i looked mad) and being too shy to talk to kids who bullied me anyway. THANKS TEACH!! as if it wasn't enough that the kids treated me like garbage! suddenly i was the enemy.

my friend actually bullied a teacher once. the teacher had us all write suggestions for her class on a sheet and turn them in. the teacher left the room crying when she read my friend's note.
it read: you suck. give it up.
i hate to admit it was a funny change from the teacher's usual dating stories about how many guys liked her.

A teacher put me on the verge of tears once.. and I empathize with her. It was because she said that "sometimes students make it so much harder on the teacher" and they don't even realize it.
True, there are rotten apples in the bunch sometimes. But do give those teachers a thought. It is like something my pastor once said.. not to add to their burdens, but to help lift them from their shoulders- you shall one day reap what you sow. When pastor first started preaching, many members of the congregation left.. Murmuring, gossip- people complaining he wasn't good enough. And now, the pastor he is today.. you couldn't imagine. Amazing guy. To think, now- all those people that could have supported him in his troubles. Instead of doing that, they added to his burdens. Give them some time. What you know on the surface is deceiving.
I pray for your friend who bullied a teacher to that point. That is really sad. You would never understand. That teacher went through training.. and years of work- only to be condemned by a student. Who is to appreciate her work.
And to all the other teachers who did badly to you.. I'd pray for them. Why would they treat a student so? Maybe you go to a bad school... or it is just the temper of the teachers.. But the reason why most teachers do that is because they feel they must fortify themselves against this critique of their students.. They feel that they have to be tough and mean- because, perhaps, students in the past have abused their kindness.. They have to construct a wall to protect themselves and strengthen their emotions. Think of it this way- they're simply preparing your emotions.. they're showing you, "this is the way it will be in reality.. this is what you'll have to face." And besides, there never will be a perfect teacher. But I bet it would make educators' lives so much better.. if we could begin to see in different perspectives. We should seek out deeper meanings instead if simply assume by what is on the surface. Maybe showing a bit of appreciation would help soften that wall and produce what everyone wants.. that mutual relationship, that friendliness amongst what we generally see as a war amongst teacher and student. It's already worked.. a little at a time for me.

The average person spends around 10-12 years in school. In that time, you will always strike some dud teachers, in the same way some teachers will strike dud students. Its all part of the school experience. I had one teacher make me stand in the corner for 30 minutes for something I didn't do. When I was university, I failed a maths test because I was sick, and was not able to study (I should have seeked an exemption for it). When the results were handed out, the teacher called me a failure in front of the class, and said I wouldn't pass the year. I did extremely well in the next math test , and to his credit, he apologized. In short, there will always be dramas when it comes to school.

In first grade, I was living in the midwest. A teacher asked me how to say a bunch of things in chinese in front of the whole class. I was the only one in the whole class and a handful in the school who was fluent in 2 languages. The teacher thought I was special. i was pretty lonely because I felt different.
I then moved to california where everyone speaks 2 languages. I felt more with the crowd.

Absolutely. Part of the reason I homeschool my kids. Nobody deserves to be bullied by a system that cannot protect them.
