The number is the measurement of around your ribcage with 4 or 5 inches added to it (sometimes you have to add 5 to make it an even number). The letter is the cup size. Sometimes cup size can differ slightly amongst bra manufacturers, but it typically works like this: take the true measurement of your ribcage, then measure around the fullest part of the bust. Subtract the ribcage measurement from the bust measurement. If the difference is 1 inch, you're an A cup.. 2 inches? B cup... and so on.

... A lot of people are saying that the number is the measurement around the ribcage, but that's not true. It's the measurement in inches plus 4 or 5 inches. I swear! You can look it up.

For example if someone wears a 36 C it means that the 36 is the measurement around the torso under the breasts, and the actual fullest breast measurement would be 3 " or 39" 1" past the torso would put you in an A, 2" would be a B, 3" is a C etc.

i actually learned this the other day on tv about bras...the numbers are the length around the rib cage and the cup size is how much a bra can hold of breast
