I think this is a case where the parents need to step in and decide if their child is ready for this sort of thing. Since the star of Zoey 101 (jamie spears) became pregnant and is in the news so much, I think it's a very appropriate response to educate youth on the subject and consequences of sex. Once again. Parents discretion. BTW 25 years old here.

Nickelodeon? Really? Well, I think that sex education is very important! It's a death sentence these days! So someone needs to teach the kids. Some parents just can't get the words out! I would have to see it for myself before I could make a decision on the subject....

By the way.... I didn't get my dictionary for Christmas! LOL

I have always felt safe, letting my grandchildren watch Nickelodeon.

Their age is from 6 up to 13 years of age.

I'm really not comfortable with my 6 year old viewing it, but it may be okay for the 13 year old.

If it could be recorded and checked out by the parent/legal guardian, before showing it, it could possibly work for some.

The decision needs to be up to the parent to decide, but not all parents will be even aware of it.

This is a hard decision to make for all responsible adults.

Our society is far too liberal and NO ONE seems to use any discretion anymore.

Many commercials are far from being appropriate.

I just have to say, it is not the proper place to teach sex education.

Will there ever be consensus, on this subject?

Very good question.

****Some shows I allow my children to watch without me.... Nickelodeon was one....Now that I know that Nickelodeon may air a Special on Teen sex...I for one will not allow Nickelodeon to be watched unless I am in the room.....
Which I do not like.....the schools have sex ed and my children do not go to those classes without my husband and I reading and watching the full lesson plans......We have our own believes and want our children to know our morals not the states or Nickelodeon...Or what is Politically correct at the time*******

If it is on Nickelodeon I am sure it will be suitable for them to watch. I would even let the 11 year old view it. He has had sex ed two years in a row in school.

This is a huge ethical issue. Depending on when it was aired and how they portrayed it, it could shed some light on the subject. If they showed how Jamie Spears got pregnant and how stressful and sadly damaging it can be and not glorify it then I think some teens will stop and think about what they are doing.

Depends on what it is they are airing [content] and how explicit or advanced, and the age and maturity of the teen to do the watching.

Just heard on the news last night that a parent bought an MP3 Player at Walmart for his 11 yr old and discovered porn and explicit lyrics on it...what IS this world coming to?

Yes! Have you ever seen the incredibly ignorant (no, I don't mean stupid, I mean IGNORANT) questions that kids on Yahoo Answers ask about pregnancy, sex, contraception, etc.?? They're absolutely appalling. These kids need SOMEONE to teach them; if their parents aren't going to do their job, then someone else needs to step in and do it, and Nickelodeon is as good as any.

Like all worthwhile things - education should begin in the home. And of course, this decision (as to whether to watch this potential show or not) should be the responsibility of the parents. Personally, I believe knowledge is power and I always believed in empowering my children. (No unwanted pregnancies in this household)!!!!!!!! CJ

I think so. Stupid teenagers need to stop having sex... Or at least they need to use protection.

I say Nick should show a special. At least on Teen Nick or whatever it's called.
