I like to either chop mine up with a knife or run a few thru the blender for a bit to make the decomposition a little faster... helps with keeping them out of sight, too, especially if you pull back the mulch and bury them under it.....and, too, if you have a little garden buddy that likes to 'help' you by finding what you 'lost' in the garden and bringing it back to you... *smile*......I use 'nanas on woody bloomers ... almond, hydrangea, rose of sharon, caryopteris, butterfly bush, that kind of thing.....

Rose bushes like banana peel, as it has potassium in the peel. just bury in under the ground slight. they will love it.
