Stereotyped as a Geek (Brain) ... and guess what -- this Geek became a Military Officer, long term Single (and yes, I was the one designated as 'being most likely to be ALONE all my life') ... SURVIVOR of a short disaster of a marriage (to an abusive, violent sociopath), EARNED my UGrad and Grad Degrees (Science/Math, of course -- High Honors too), RETIRED from the Military (Honorable Service) ... raised my TWO Disabled Children ALONE with NO help ... endured more than most people would (with that nasty ex who continued to torment me down the almost 2 decades since the divorce) ... and now ...
As an Empty-Nesting Single Retiree (and yes, I DID survive the Burglary of MY HOME by my Ex-Spouse in August 2006 -- which was just another in the long series of torments/burglaries and other bad things I survived at his hands) ....
I was NOT Changed at all -- the Bullying that I ENDURED and left behind in High School just showed how TOUGH I could be -- and that the ONLY person I could RELY Upon at all times is MY OWN EFFORTS ... and that is the ONLY SURE THING IN MY LIFE.
For the ONLY way one can live a life is to BE themselves -- and to know that they MUST stick to what they are doing no matter what -- provide for themselves, make sure that they pay their bills, and do their best.
There is NO ONE ELSE -- and trust is easily broken. Guard yourself well .. and especially so if you are FEMALE (and yes, I AM female -- and I DID Walk Away from EVERYTHING I had/earned at the point in time I divorced ... in order to live) ... so BUILT my LIFE MYSELF -- I am SELF MADE ... and my HOME is through MY EARNINGS (along with my pension and ... ultimately -- my peace of mind/happiness).

I was extremely introverted and shy in highschool. I was a Seventh Day Adventist teen and the only one at my school and in my town. Now, I stick up for myself and don't allow anyone to push me around. I'm also very outgoing, social and confident - the total anti-me that I was in highschool. I'm also now an atheist.

Yes and no. Back then I was a geeky kid with bad social skills, who went to school with a bunch of kids that I didn't fit in with. Now I'm all grown up, so I don't have to hang out with anyone I don't fit in with. Funnily enough, my social skills don't seem so bad now I have the company of some fellow geeks!
You'll leave school and go on to recreate yourself to your own satisfaction. Who you were and what you did at high school will never again come into play, unless you run into one of the girls you went to school with. Not true of the guys, they'll be happy to see you and congratulate you for whatever you're doing, even if they picked on you for 6 years straight in school :)

Yes, it affected me. I am still a nerdy choir child but I am no longer ashamed of it. As for the person who said that the high school years are the best years of your life, well they must have been crowned most popular in a high school of, like, ten people. Its NOT fun and I am glad I am gone!!! College-now that is fun!!

I am a much more happy person than I was in High School. I earned myself a bad reputation and was glad to be able to walk away and start over.

I was the "metal-head" "Atheist" I am fully in touch with my spirituality. In a way, thanks to my stupidity and naive ways, i developed a need to know who I really was.
