I often find myself sitting around thinking about universal human nature and wondering about the reasons why people think and act a certain way, how much people have changed over time, and the effects this has on our physical world, sometimes for hours on end. I'm 13 years of age, I love to learn, and I apparently have a bit too much free time on my hands. Is this normal? Or do I just have a passion for psychology? I wish I could explain a bit better.

The point is---------- Do kids my age do this as well? Have any of you ever wondered about this sort of thing?

Im worse! Im 15 and I too and fascinated with psychology. I am most interested in the ability to kill and gender differences. I watch shows and read books about serial killers and trans sexuality. I am not going to say you are normal, but certainly you should not be dismayed by your interests! Your maturity and yearning for knowledge are gifts. The only difficult part is explaining your ideas and interests to other people your age and expecting them to be able to relate. Many of my friends were really creeped out when I came up with the idea that everyone is bisexual!

Good for you Kristina! You are never too young or old to learn. Psychology and the meaning of life interest me also and i think have done for a long time.

i don't know if many your age think along the same lines you do but some people have a more mature outlook, even when young, this is not a bad thing. Perhaps you could check if there is a google or yahoo group out there that you could join to discuss your favourite subjects or interests. Just an idea.

In the meantime, continue your study of this subject and learn and enjoy! Take care.

First of all I would like to state that you sound VERY intelligent for a young woman of your age. Now in my experiences not too many 13 year olds think about such complex subjects, however because you sound so intelligent probably means you are more mature than your peers at your school.
My advice is that you take your passion and apply it. In high school you will have psychology classes that you may take i suggest you take them and that you may look into psychology as a career, if it is indeed your passion, and you will be happy and live very comfortably.
Much luck to you and your future

I think it's great that you have the capacity to do that, and at your young age. Nurture this talent in yourself. Whether or not it's "normal" is not important. Having the talent to be a great concert pianist isn't "normal", but who would say that makes it a bad thing?

I think you are also saying that you may be somewhat imbalanced between thinking and experiencing (being active in the world), in the direction of thinking. That would not be unusual for someone with a gift for psychology. It's important to be as grounded in the world of experience as you can be. The more you are so, the more your thinking reflects reality and so the more significant it is.

I wonder about it a lot, have been since I was a little kid, but never got into psychology. I'm a graphic designer. A lot of people wonder about this sort of thing, but don't talk about it much. You might want to think about going into psychology later if it still appeals to you.

i used to that but i wasnt that young, i was about 15 i think. I'm 21 now but I still think about it sometimes. I think psychology is a very important aspect in life so the more you know the better off you will be, but everything has its limits as well.

Hi, when i was your age i think that as well, don't get me wrong i think I'm the stupidest kid ever, but i started invent theories and invite people for discussion. So to some its normal, probably liberal people, and to some is not. I just turned 15.

Yeah. I'm 14 and throughout my life have found myself wondering why there is a universe, God, people, and just about everything. And you don't have too much time on your hands - you're just smart, and not ignorant.
