Two things:

1) Age

2) Weight

He's always had trouble with the latter as he's never really looked after his nutrition. Now that he's getting up in age combined with his weight & the fact that opposing centers/players are simply getting younger -- Shaq is simply a shell of his former self.

If Shaq took care of his body he would've been able to play at a high level for several more years.

He's done.

Age and weight are obvious problems, yet the Heat's game plan is a problem on effectively utilizing Shaq. Even if Shaq is out of shape, he is one of the best big men in rotating the ball. He should play in a way similar to Sabonis, which will definitely help on saving Wade and J-Will (as long as he is a Heat) energy and opens up the floor by more ball movement.

The hops and explosiveness that he had while he grew to become into youthful is now long previous. he's definitely ignored a dunk or 2 this 12 months. He has consistently been a heavy dude, yet he grew to become into consistently nevertheless very rapid and agile, fairly for his physique. yet now, that quickness and agility is long previous. His stamina has stooped besides. It doesnt help that his helping solid is crappy. Wade is all he relatively has... J-Will is an inconsistent shooter... Haslem is respectable at maximum suitable... their bench is definitely susceptible. Shaq was as explosive as Dwight Howard is now... so think of Dwight approximately 15 years older, income possibly 50 kilos of fat, lose his leaping skill, and lose maximum of his quickness and explosiveness... after which you acquire the present-day Shaq.

That's the problem, he is the OLD shaq, really old. Used to be maybe a couple of guys in the league could guard him one on one, now a couple of guys on every team can. He should get out before he has to get carried out like Zoe.

Age is certianly a big problem, but weight isnt one of his problems. I remember shaq being quick in the post where he would do a fast spin move or something else, but now he's getting old, his legs can't hang up much longer.
