Natural skill, but a lot of it was also batting style. A lot of hitters at the time would still employ dead ball era hitting techniques- punch the ball rather than swing for the fences, and concentrate on making contact rather than driving it as far as possible. You'll notice that though Ruth dominated in home runs, he also routinely lead the league in strikeouts.

Eventually others in baseball started to incorporate some of his style, and while no one else eclipsed him, there eventually were guys like Gehrig, Hornsby, and Foxx who could at least compete with him. When Ruth hit 54, no one else had ever hit even 30. By the time he hit 60 in 1927, the 30 HR mark had been hit 9 times by players other than Ruth.

i think of you advise if A-Roid hits 900 homeruns, could he be greater effective than Babe Ruth? NO if Albert Pujols does it, then you certainly've gotten a physically powerful argument Heres 3 that positioned into persepctive what Babe Ruth did: at the start no person throughout the time of that factor hit a million/2 as many homeruns as he did and he in easy terms performed like 104 video games all 3 hundred and sixty 5 days and he additionally pitched for his first 3 season in the majors
