What are the pros and cons of a belt versus direct drive front load washer?

I know that belt well wear down quicker but is cheaper to fix

If the drum is off balance with a direct drive machine, the motor is off balance, too. With belt drive the motor is isolated from the drum and should last longer.

never had a problem with belt drives. they sound nice and usually whislte and hum when spin
