My aunt says that every year on New Year's she puts change near every window in her house and it brings her good fortune throughout the year. She swears by it. Does anyone else do this and does it work?

I don't know if it's New Year's Eve or Day.

And she's...American lol. I'm thinking she's Irish or Italian down the line.

I've heard that "belief" with the chinese. they either sprinkle or CEMENT coins into the door step like a permanent welcome mat.

they say that money outside the house entices the good spirits to be benevolent and help them by giving good luck in financial ventures.

there's even a new year tradition of having a little bag of coins (preferably in a red pouch) safety-pinned on your shirt or blouse, but I'm not sure if it's being followed anymore. xD

I was taught to toss semi precious stones on the grown for prosperity. I toss a mixture of Garnet and ruby chips. This shows the house fairy's your not worried about money so they bring you more.
