If you have this arrangement, why get married at all. If you want to sleep around there are several choices. You can make a business of it (That has legal ramifications) or you can flit from bar to bar and singles group to group.

Of what benefit is an open marriage? In the end both parties are going to find that the grass is greener in someone els's yard and that will end the marriage - OR - it will be a marriage in name only.

Best you think about what a marriage means and what vows are given when this ceremony is carried out.

Marriage is a sacred and private institution. What goes on behind closed doors is nobody else's business. Marriage relationships are as unique as any others. What works for some doesn't work well for others. Each couple must find their own way of relating and fostering intimacy. If that means an open marriage and it works for the couple, then more power to them!

It's certainly not for me, and I don't think I'd be able to remain in my marriage if my husband suddenly wanted this kind of arrangement. Apparently there are couples who have made it work for them. I know two couples who are attempting to have an open marriage, but in both cases, one of the spouses is highly unhappy with the arrangement but refuses to tell the other spouse for fear of losing the relationship.

Humans are jealous creatures by nature; this can't be changed. SOMEbody is bound to always be jealous in these kinds of relationships.

Not a good idea at all. Too many potential problems. Would you not wonder or be concerned if your spouse found someone better in bed then you?

Besides, if I marry, it will be because I love her, and heck man, I don't want to think of her doing anything like that with anyone else nor would I want anyone else either.

I think you shouldn't be married if you're just going to have an open marriage and bring other people into your marriage. I think having threesomes and having permission to cheat can be a disaster waiting to happen. You can not spice up your relationship by bringing in other people.

Marriage is supposed to be a commitment not just a bit of paper so open marriages seem a bit pointless to me.

There is no point in a marriage then.. And i would never do that. Altough i am not 100 % sure what an open marriage means. I think i kinda know..

If both partners agree, than it's OK I suppose, although I don't know why they would get married in the first place.

I would NEVER agree to an open marriage and my husband would NEVER ask lol.

We had a neighbor once ask if we would like a foursome with her and her boyfriend...my husband was like "HELL NO"!

lol

I think it's pointless to get married if you're going to have an open marriage. That's not what marriage is all about.

Why bother getting married at all? An 'open marriage' defeats the whole purpose of taking wedding vows.
