I want to downgrade from vista to XP.

How do I know if the hardware that was once running on Vista will work on XP? Hardware being graphics card, wireless card, sound card, ram, and etc.

I have a HP Pavillion DV6000 laptop.

Yes it will run XP ... as suggested earlier go to HP website and download all the necessary XP drivers for your machine first ... The ones you may have trouble with are current Chipset and Hi Definition Audio .. but they're out there you just need to look ... you can't "Downgrade" you'll have to do a complete fresh install and fully Format the drive otherwise Vista will survive .... Good Luck

Go to support.hp.com. Type in pavilion dv6000 and in the other search box, type in drivers or manuals.

You'll notice there are different models of your computer. You might want to look somewhere on the laptop where you can find the right number. Sometimes it's on the bottom.

Anyway, for the one I looked at, it seems that they do have drivers for Windows XP. So if you install XP on your laptop, you should be able to get the XP drivers here.

If you can find XP drivers for your laptop on their site then, yes, you can install XP on it.

Hope this helps!

Ok dude, pretty simple answer. When you start the computer it will first say what company it's from like Compaq, Toshiba, Hp etc. Then after that there will be a loading sign and if it says Windows XP and under that you see 3 blue bars loading then its a Windows XP.

Hope that helps. Really appreciate best answer.

Holla at ya.

this is rubbish. the 1st element i might do with a sparkling computing device is format it and placed living house windows XP on it. i would not even turn it on with a Microsoft OS till patch a million or 2 is out.

If the computer is compatible with Vista, then it definitely is with Windows XP. I have done it myself. If you are still unsure, compare your computer's configurations against the Microsoft required configurations for having windows xp on computers.

Cheers,
John

If your computer can run Vista, it will run XP to its full capabilities.
