You do need to get some thicker lube for back there. Hand lotions will absorb in quickly and the perfumes can cause problems.
Seriously - you should spend several weeks with him arousing you and working well lubed fingers in back there so you feel the pleasure as a part of your normal sex life. It is a real newbie mistake to try full penetration as your first time doing back-door play. It's almost a guarantee of failure/pain.
He should wear a condom the first few times so the smooth surface reduces friction. It also does not absorb lube.
There is a good chance he will get part way in and you will suddenly spasm/hurt and he will have to pull out. He then takes off the condom to finish in the front. NEVER go back and forth between the openings.
If your boyfriend has seen videos of girls who take it in the back, he has not seen the several minutes before where the actress work themselves open with toys. You might want to consider a smooth plug to help you get used to having something back there. (Send the boyfriend out to get them and put a condom on them for play.)
Trust me - your boyfriend will enjoy using it on you.

RE:
When trying anal, is using lotion as lube bad for you body?
My boyfriend wants to try but I told him tearing could happen without some kind of lubrication and he suggested lotion. What do you think? Would it be harmful?

It is not bad. Some folks try to use religion to say it is, Not true, whatever happens between you and your partner to please each other should be between you two, God won't get into it unless you are doing it for the pleasure of DOMINATING your partner. In this case if he feels more powerful over you by this act. Other than that don't worry, it will not stretch as some have said or cause leakage. If you are torn, then you could leak but they can operate and fix that. The key is preparation: First thing is to empty the colon. Use an enema at least 30 minutes BEFORE penetration. If you don't empty the colon you will experience pain and have a risk for rupture/lacerations of the colon or anus tearing. Just for illustration, fill a sock to the top with newspapers; now try to put your fist IN the sock to the toes... very hard to do. Now empty the sock and try to put your hand in. very easy with minimal expansion of the sock, If you use the enema your colon would not be stretched that much once you get the feces out of the way. Two. LUBE, you can never have too much lube. Use a water based lube. DO NOT use Petroleum based lubricants or lotions such as baby oil or petroleum jelly. Go to an adult store or pharmacy, they have water based personal lubricants that will work fine. Have him apply it inside your anus with his fingers, very slowly. This will do two things, lubricate you and assist with relaxing the sphincter. Have him use one or two fingers for at least five minutes while he goes down on you or caress your body... just ensure he helps on relaxing your anus muscles. Three take it easy and have him agree that when you say stop it means stop. You must control speed and depth of penetration or rhythm of encounter. For the first penetration try to push a little as if having a bowel movement, this will assist on relaxing the anus and ease penetration. He will enjoy if you tighten your anus after he penetrates. I recommend he use a condom to prevent infections. After you finish ensure you both wash up very well. NEVER go from anal to vaginal sex without washing. This would be VERY DANGEROUS for you. If you are concerned about STD's just ensure you have a clean partner. Take it easy and have fun.

Lotion makes terrible lubricant. You need to find a thick, water based lube, preferably specifically marketed for anal use. Try: http://www.babeland.com/ or http://www.blowfish.com
Please do some research before jumping into anal, because if you don't know what you're doing you can really hurt yourself. Take it very slow, and build up over time. It takes a lot of preparation.

Anal is bad for you under any circumstances. Not to feed guys' egos, but the average penis is larger and firmer than the average turd; and the sphincter is not designed to be forced open for that long. Lower intestinal infections, incontinence, and *PAIN* are common results.
Tearing is not likely (at least not in humans) - the rectum is a pretty tough structure. But most lotions will act as an irritant to the mucosa and will probably sting. Take the time to get a non-irritating water based lubricant; there are even some lubes (such as the aptly named SHAFT) specifically designed for this use.
