all that happened was he received a fine of $400,000. now that's alot to you or me, but to him i'm sure that's no biggy. i mean, i just can't comprehend how when someone cheats and isn't punished accordingly, everyone seems to be okay (in general, of course).

if i were to cheat in a game, i would be thrown out. if my coach were to be caught, we'd lose the game automatically and she/he would be suspended for a certain amount of time. i think belichick should have been fired. yes, i said it: fired. my reasoning is this: he coaches for an NFL team. it doesn't get any higher than that folks! he is a professional. it takes alot to become a coach in the NFL. you have to be good and respected, as well as respectful. he was none of thee above when he cheated. as i said before, if this was a smalltime high school football game, as it is the coach would be suspended and his/her reputation (as a coach) would be damaged. but, this is no "smalltime deal." this is the big time.

and i ran out of room. but as i was saying, this is not to be taken lightly. he betrayed the rules of the game, and oh look, the pats are 15-0. i feel like screaming! doesn't anyone agree? everyone i talk to (besides one person) seems to feel that he was punished accordingly.

I thought he got a draft pick taken away too?

Either way, I definitely agree with you.

PS - to the people saying "it's in the past" and "that was forever ago"... guess what? It was in THIS SEASON! And the Pats ARE GOING TO THE SUPERBOWL (probably, but hopefully not). Of course this is gonna be an issue that will resurface. Team cheats -- Team gets perfect (or almost perfect season) -- Team (maybe) wins the Superbowl. There might or might not be a causation, but people are going to look at it closely for the next few years at least.

youre right.he had the camera right out in the open where everyone in the stadium could see him taping the other team...hell youd think he didnt understand the rule that says," you can tape the other team but not from the playing field." oh wait thats what the nfl said happend in this case and punished both him and the team accordingly.

what makes you or any other person think they know more about the rules and how to punish violators that the commisioner of the nfl?

As a Pats fan, I think that yes he should have been punished by not being able to coach for th next game or a heftier fine, but with the league rules as they are under a salary cap its hard to go any higher than they did. I still think BB is a great coach, but he made one mistake and paid for it. that doesn't mean he has or will make more dumb mistakes.

come on man, do you honestly think the pats needed to cheat to beat the jets? im not a pats fan or anything but this is one of the best teams ever assembled, i doubt they need to cheat to beat the 3rd worst team in the NFL. sure the fine might not seem a lot to belicheck, but that was the largest the NFL could get him for.

I agree the Patriots are favored by the NFL they should have made them get the 49ers first round pick next year or something it's bull that they'll have a top 10 pick in the draft

He was in fact, overpunished.

He, and I, will feel a lot better about this excessive punishment after he wins yet another Super Bowl.
