I agree that you should not ask again. Let her enjoy her role as an aunt on her terms. If she enjoys babysitting for you, she'll bring it up, my sister in law asks me all the time when she can babysit next. On the other hand I have sisters who would never babysit when my daughter was young. They enjoyed her, but wanted me there too. I also have sisters that would pick my daughter up and hang out with her sometimes with out telling me beforehand. Let her pick her comfort level and don't push her past it. She will be a better aunt if she feels comfortable. Good luck!

...If you ever think you might ask her to babysit for you in the future, I wouldn't do it. You've asked her twice already, and she's told you that she cannot TWICE. Unless it's an emergency (dinner reservations are NOT an emergency), why would you ask her a third time?
Perhaps you should also consider the reasons she said "no." Do you ever offer to pay her? I'm always more than willing to watch my nephew, and I don't accept pay for it, but my sister-in-law ALWAYS offers to pay me - and that lets me know that she appreciates and realizes that my time is valuable. Perhaps you aren't treating your sister like HER time is valuable...I mean, it stands to reason that you aren't, you've asked her twice and are considering asking her a third time (again, emergencies aside). If someone did that to me, I'd start to wonder if they actually respected me and the fact that I DO have a life outside of being their personal daycare service.

I would look for a nanny service or another professional babysitting option. Family sometimes are not the best option for childcare. Wait until she asks to spend time with your little one - especially if she is younger than you.

Our family - for whatever reason- hates babysitting. We have two great & easy children you would think they would ask to spend time with them -but they dont.
Let it go and find a babysitter you pay so you have more freedom.

find someone else, and stop trying to con your sister. maybe she has something else to do... i'm sure her life doesn't revolve around babysitting.
maybe if you give her $3,000 up front for the night, she'd change her mind. i would.
