anyone who can give me the true story of how and why the longhorns jerseys are burnt orange gets 10. first is best, but the more details the better. for example, why is there a slight variation in the actual burnt orange color every season of the longhorns jerseys? GL, and i'll be shocked if anyone gets this one! it's an amazing story.

ok here's the deal. have ya'll ever seen a spotted longhorn steer? well the spots can range fron live color to orange, bright orange. the color, 'burnt' orange was based on one of these sopts on a steer. the pigments needed to achieve this color are so unique, it's almost impossible to reproduce. if you have ever done any custom painting, you know what i mean. the colors just never come out the same. burnt orange is a color that exists nowhere in nature except on the every now and then odd spots on a longhorn steer! and now you know. it's almost impossible to reproduce, thus the slight variations from year to year....hook 'em horns babe!

Longhorns are primarily raised to become taco meat. Taco meat is best when it appears to be a burnt orange color. Most Texas longhorns grads are still only qualified to serve tacos. Perfect fit.

I dont really know the answer but a long horn changes color based on age so maybe because the team is elder in time the color changes?

because their jerseys used to be the similar color to a football.
when they ran the option it was hard for the other team to tell who had the ball.
