I live in Illinois where the Fed's just put ex-Governor George Ryan in prison for curruption; many of the current Governor's associates are under indictment for curruption; the current Governor is being investigated; and in Cook County, the poster for curruption and nepotism, they have a motto for election day: "vote early and vote often".

EVERY state has a remarkable amount of corruption. They always HAVE & they always WILL! It's the AMERICAN WAY!

I was born and raised in Illinois and I personally believe that IL is notorious for corruption. I no longer live there now. However, I have heard that about other states as well so maybe they are all a bit corrupt. Now take our National Govt. ...this is just pathetic, and not even a democracy anymore. As long as we the people sit by and do nothing it will just get considerably worse I think.

I lived in Chicago for 10 years when Mayor Daley Snr. was running the "machine". Interesting to note that not much has changed since the 1970's! But yes, we have corruption here too and there is plenty in our nation's capital - I think until we vote in term limits (especially for the Congress) nothing much is going to change! A sad commentary but true! CJ

I lived in La for 22 years. We claim to have the most corrupt officals, and will fight for that honor. LOL. Left there and went to DC, guess what??? a tie at least. Now here in the middle of the Bible Belt, it isn't much better, so yes I think that anywhere you have those who are supposed to watch out for and help the general population, they are going to do that by putting the screws to us.

How much would you consider "remarkable"? I know that our state government has very close ties to the predominant religion and that tends to sway the vote. Now, that doesn't mean that I am saying that people shouldn't vote for Mitt, but I sure won't be.

WELL AFTER HE AND SCRUCHY WERE SENTENCED FOR CORRUPTION AND COERCION WITH HEALTH SOUTH, WE ALL KNEW WHY. MONEY UNDER THE TABLE FOR DEALS.

That sounds about par -- the rest of the states are a little slow at getting things done it would seem.

My general thought is that you can expect people to behave about the way you'd expect them to.

There's a river of money and power in government. It attracts the thirsty.

In Ohio, we have Tom Noe and "coingate," which filtered down to many in the state government.
