Dont take facebook adds to seriously. I mean its a good sign that he remembered you enough to add you, but you cant take it to mean all that much, he might just have seen that you two were in the same class and somewhat remembered you so he added you.
I wouldn't message him, not yet at least. Give him some time and see if he messages you. It would be weird for someone else to add you, and then you message them first.
