Sometimes they are slow drivers and have trouble hearing but do you respect what they brought to this world and the 70 or 80+ years they have put in?

Yes Very Much In Deed !

For one day, that will be me...
I respect all older people they are wise and true and have so much love inside whether it be hidden or not. They are human as you and I are. They have feelings ! They hurt, they love, they laugh, they care... sometimes life gets in their way, but, down in their hearts, they deserve the respect from all !

Yes. I am 66 years old and there are a lot fewer of my elders to respect these days, but I do respect them and I'm glad to see them.

I do think some of them shouldn't be driving, but many are good drivers well into their 80's and 90's.

These were the people in the generation that raised me, however, and I very much appreciate that. I hope God will walk and ride alongside them the rest of the days of their lives, and I hope he'll remember to do the same for me in a few more years when I am old and decrepit.

That's in a few more years...not right away.

At that age they can pretty much do what they want - I know at my age - 45 - I feel like I put up with a lot of crap through the years and I pretty much do what I want within the law of course. If I want to drive slow, I do - I pay my taxes, etc. but I do respect others and at least drive in the right hand lane. If someone is following me too close - I just let my foot off the gas - works everytime. Also, if I am just browsing in a store, and someone is trying to get around me, I move out of the way - I am nice - but as you get older, you pretty much have put up with a lot through life and realize what is really important and are tired of taking crap from others.

Happy New Year!

Yes indeedy!!! I was raised in the old school where you were taught (perhaps even punished at times) to respect all elders. Kids today have an "don't care" attitude. I wish they could have just ONE of my butt whippings I took for disrespecting an elder!!

I was raised to respect my elders but I am allowed to have my thoughts and I think that after people hit a certain age they should be required to take a driving test every year, when you are that old you just cannot react that fast....ya know what I mean?

Absolutely! They may not be able to hear me when I say "Ma'am" or "Sir", but I still do it nevertheless. Although it's a very common thing down here in the south, I find that my patients still kind of get a kick out of it!
