why is it soo painful to watch loved ones suffering ???

Because you care about them and you don't want them feeling pain but there is nothing you can do about it. It is especially hard when it is your child and they are making a bad choice because when you were their age you made the same mistake so all you can do is help them up and dust them off when its over and be there for them.

love is a complicated thing period..................I have cancer at 44 been given 2 mons or less to live have loss my perpherinal vision, organs r shutting down n in terrable pain many nights of suffering i have lost the use of my right arm, so i asked my husband to answer the ? according to how he felt he told me it was because he felt helpless to my needs , he doesnt know how to stop the pain , he can only watch me endure it, he sometimes has to miss work .he has his own buisness, thank god or he wld have been fired for sure......then he sees our 4 boys ages 21 ,24, 12,and 7 watch this and feel thier pain as well i dont know how he does it i can say he is a wonderful and strong person he told me he sometimes goes to a old road parks and crys , i never knew that ,this ? realy hit home his mother has breast cancer too 2cd stage i am in the 4th what they call the bridge to death we had to make a will , pick a grave n all in the last month.but by the grace of god i am on 3 and1/2 mons .................but i feel ready when god calls because i have lived my life it is only i worry for them afterwards but god never puts more on us than we can bear . believe me i have asked him to carry me many times thru out this christmas and he did..bless u all n all that r suffering n the 1s that feel helpless to them.............have met 2 good friends here that i correspond with and it has made me happy to help all i can .i have not been out of this house 4 months .but i cldnt think of a better place to be on earth

Well it sort of depends on a persons perspective.
Seeing someone in physical pain can cause psychological pain for others.
Being the youngest I've watched about 15 relatives pass on.
At age 9 a mortician once told me to think about death differently.
If I know a relative is a christian I'm happy for them when they pass on.
Its much worse however when you know or even think they were not saved at all.
If you die and go to heaven earth is your only hell.
If you die and go to hell earth was your only heaven.

when you truly love someone, a part of your heart basically belongs to them(metaphorically speaking). and when they suffer, you feel pain because your heart is there too.....and that is why you give them all you can, and do all you in your power to try and ease the pain, to be strong for them, because the longer they suffer, the longer you suffer.

i think it is compassion, because sometimes one can feel others pain even if you don't know that person and second love if you love someone you don't want them to suffer.

Sufferings are always painful to all. Surely it will be painful to watch our loved ones suffering as we are very close to them.

No, not always the case. I have seen people celebrate when their parents or grandparents are terminally ill. it's like, "that's great. I don't have to listen to that anymore."
