I don't need the really, really thick kind, I just need small squares of it. Thin and tiny, because I really don't need the big ones. Unfortunately, I don't know where to get them or how much it might cost me. Where can I buy it, and how much would each cost?

At most, how much would the small ones cost at Home Depot? (smaller than your hand)

Most hardware stores carry it, and it's not that much.

Many hardware stores carry plexiglass up to 1/4" thick. Any thickness greater than 1/4" would have to be purchased through a glass, window dealer and expect to pay upwards of $200 for a sheet 4' x 8'. You would be better off to go with safety glass if you pursue this project. Better yet, just buy a 50 gallon aquarium. I used sell and cut plexiglass and it is expensive and has its limits. Good luck!

I just bought on portable basketball hoop, and the plexiglass backboard has a sizeable hole in it, probably from a big rock thrown at it. How can I mend this, to make it smooth?

You might want to explore small hardware stores initially. Example: ACE...Often they sell smaller sheets of plexi for substitute window pane material, and you'll still have to score/snap...or cut to your size needs.

Certainly HD and/or Lowes might offer the same, or have "culled" material available in less than 4 x 8 sheets.

Cost is relative, and not strictly easy for us to determine here.

You have to buy the sheets, like a one by one foot is probably the smallest a small hardware would handle. The others like Home depot only the large One yard square. You'd have to cut it yourself.

It ranges in price but, I can tell you it's not cheap.
