Hello Dear...I went through the same thing as you with my first pregnancy but I had to bend the truth a little to get medicaid. If you don't lie to them and tell them about him and his income they are going to look for him to pay. Although I was living with my boyfriend/baby father I lied and told them I was living with a cousin. I didn't have a lick of income coming in on my end. It is not like they are going to come into your home to see who you are living with. They had asked for a note from the person I was living with to verify that I was living with them. They did not recommend for that person to come in. You will have to take the note in on your next visit. Once you do that they will take care of all of your bills including the $2000 bill that is waiting to be paid. Trust me, you will not get busted and my boyfriend was making really good money as well.

I had double covered insurance but neither covered maternity so my ob sent me down to apply for medicaid and since i stopped working i was approved on the spot. Because i didn't have pre-existing maternity coverage there wasn't a way for me to add it to my insurance plan but it could be different for you. Medicaid is based soley on you so don't worry about his income, just a little word to the wise if your medicaid office is anything like the one where i am you need to be waiting at the door when they open for the day or you won't be seen and wait to see one of the case workers but give yourself some time i was waiting when they opened and didn't get seen for an hour and a half! good luck with everything!!

You could just say you're a single mother just don't mention your b/f in the application. The thing is though if your boyfriend is making that much a year couldn't he help you pay for it so you wouldn't have to apply for government aid? Government healthcare sucks if you can get your own doctor I think you should...that's what I had to do. I was going to apply for medicaid but it turned out that the Government doesn't want to help people that are trying to help themselves...but I guess it's the best anyways since like I said before government health care blows.

When my friend got pregnant she was only 18 and still living with her parents. She applied for medicaid but got denied because even though she only made maybe $16000/yr her parents made well over the cutoff income. Since she was living under their roof she had to include their income. Now this was 4 years ago, so rules may have changed, or may vary state to state, but, if its still the same way then you have to include everyones income under the roof you live. Is there are website you could look up and maybe find some FAQ? Good luck!

Leave the medicaid system to people who actually cannot afford private insurance. If he makes that much money, get some private insurance. Being pregnant is not a "pre-existing" condition, they cannot deny your insurance. Where I live it would be 2-300 a month. You can afford insurance, medicaid will probably deny you.

*** Also, you may not have income, but they will look at his because you live with him.

Medicaid usually goes by your household income. They will ask how much your significant other makes. I would be honest with the Medicaid office, tell them your situation. They will help you fill out the paperwork and let you know almost immediately if you qualify.

You have to claim your household income, so most likely you would not qualify. I don't mean to sound rude, but why not just get married? You would automatically be covered by his insurance without having to wait for his open enrollment. Also, if he is making $65,000 a year, can he not help pay for the doctor visits? It is his child too.

Is there a reason you cannot get married? I don't really care if you have kids out of wedlock (I did;-) but, if you need the insurance...
I think medicaid will go by your household income.

Ask his employer if they offer domestic partner benefits.

You might also want do check into midwives, as many of them take payment plans.

Since you two live together you will have to list his income, so you probably don't qualify for medicaid. Is marriage an option?
