Being tall generally commands more of a presence. It is in some ways intimidating, and can vault that person into a position of authority easier. It has been like that for a while, not just in today's world. (It played a role in Lincoln getting elected)

Tall? the president doesn't have to be tall. and it doesn't really matter if the president is male or female. All that really matters is that the president can make good decisions to run the country, be able to represent the country well, and have the best interest of the country in mind. If that person happens to a short woman, that's ok, and if that person is a tall man, that's ok too.

In today's world, the president needs to be mentally capable. The physical stature or sex should be reserved for important figures like beauty pageant winners, not leaders of the free world!

In Theory, it's because tall people are supposed to represent good health & dignity. In REALITY- it's because weak, impressionable and insecure Voters- need a "role model" to look up to. "Today's Humanity"- STILL has alot of Growing up to do... :(

it is something to do with public image. when someone is tall, what he/she talks sounds more convincing, even if that president is very smart and influential
