I hit a rock :( The dent is about the size of your pinky nail, but its on the sidewall. all of the sheets of fibergalss where mushed and they seemed to separate from one another.i took some pliers and bent them back together and it seems to be alright. the board was fairly expensive and brand new. i just wanted to know if this separation will escalate over time or if i should get it checked

Whether it is foamcore or woodcore you can't let moisture in. Temporarily you can drip p-tex over the damaged area to seal out moisture but it will look like crap and you still want to get that fixed as soon as possible.

The board will start to delaminate - I would try to get it fixed.

Each time that edge of the board slides in the snow, some more will pack into the opening making it worse - that is what happened to my board. A board shop can fill it with resin or epoxy and clamp it until it cures - then file it smooth and fix the base.

It isn't cheap and they can't guarantee that it will hold, but you can save a board by getting it fixed while it is still small.

Good Luck

i am not a snowboarder, but i have always wanted to, but like a pair of skis, any crack or bend needs a filler. take it to the shop and they will explain how to "fill" your board with wax.
