It all goes back to realativism. Say Hollanders suddenly had their gas gas prices raised to $9.77, they would be a little upset because while they have to keep more money supplied for their gas budget, their salaries and minimum wage stay the same. It may seem that, number wise, they are spending more than we are, but in proportion to their national income, they could actually be getting more slack than Americans.
That would be like going crazy because Venezuelans only have to pay 14 cents per gallon when. Their average in come is less than a dollar compared to our five to eight dollars.
Fact is, our prices are being gouged and minimum wage fails to go up in some areas. It's frustrating when some gas salesman take advantage of the current state of affairs to charge us more when they aren't having to pay more. THAT's when most people complain.

Because the U.S. funnels a great deal of support and aid around the world; if there is a problem, call the good ole' US of A - the American people are very generous. Stands to reason, a little reimbursement on the gas wouldn't hurt.

We're complaining because we use MORE of it than any of those other countries. In all of the European countries you mentioned, far less of the population owns a car then in America; most of them use public transportation such as a bus, the subway, or walking/bike riding. And the people who do have cars, have small ones that use minimal gas. No one has an SUV or a Hummer.
And everything is Canada is more expensive due to the way the dollar value changes in the country.

People whine about gas prices because they're high. (The prices, not the people. Ok, some of the people. But the prices too.) Just because they're higher elsewhere doesn't mean they aren't high here too.
Also, Canada HAS to sell gas to the US because of NAFTA? That doesn't sound right.

Environmentalists have made it so hard, America Cannot Pump it's own Oil or Control and Reduce the price of Oil. Mamby Pamby's would rather remain Captive to people that don't Like us very much. Export Jobs FOR Americans, Import Cheap Labor and diminish the Dollar, while re-investing overseas.
If America Ever Grew Big Hairy ones, Restored itself to WWII Boldness, they would attack us again, and Intimidation Rules these days Not Fair Play or Honest Answers! Mst of the enemy Camp is already among us! What is the difference between what they are Doing and what Thugs in the Hood do to everyday Citizens that are Not like them?

It's reasonable to complain about gas prices going up, what I can't stand is the ones who complain about gas prices but drive a Hummer or Suburban getting 12 miles to the gallon.

Most people in the US forget the late 70's when gas was much more expensive when adjusted to the buying power of the dollar.
