Is it unusually that Al Qaeda, if responsible, has not claimed responsibility for Bhutto's murder?

The assassination of Bhutto is beneficial to Al Qaeda because it creates political chaos. This does not necessarily mean that Al Qaeda did it. There are other terrorist groups that would be equally glad to see the breakdown of government authority.

Because her death was a case of a Muslim woman being killed as a political act. That is a "Harram" (an offense against the Koran) and it will soon be condemned throughout all of Islam. Admitting it would be the equivalent of the Grand Dragon of the Ku Klux Klan announcing he was a Catholic with a Jewish Mother and an African-American father.
The killing of Mrs. Bhutto may be the most bone-headed thing that Al Queda and the rest of the Hibarah have done.
