If you go into your hidden files, and delete that will be the end of your PC. You can go to start, or open on your monitor, "my computer", open "C", drive if this is your primary drive, open properties, and you will see clean my disk. Wait while the system analyzes the junk on your HDD. and you will see will be asked to ok the cleaning. Allow and the junk will be deleted.

You can download what I use, free and quite excellent. We call it the Crap Cleaner, will clean up all temp. folders, and junk in your system, plus you can clean your registry of junk, and will ask you to save the keys founds. Save if you don't know much about computers. Because you can restore the keys if necessary, I have never seen this software make one mistake with the registry all the years of use.

Defrag, your PC. Go to start, accessories, system tools, and open defrag.

Instead of custom scan allow software to scan the entire pc - all users. This is a security area you asked about "cleaning out junk files" ??? Did you mean malware?

TIP: With antivirus and antispyware to scan all manually - Right Click > Start > Explore .... Windows Explorer opens. On the left - Right Click > C Local Disk and on the menu click "Scan" with whatever security software you are using ('scan' and company name should appear on menu). Repeat for D System Disk and any others you partion installed like an E drive or whatever called.

PS.... "Hidden Files" are part of the Windows Operating System.... you delete that and belated holidays wishes because you are getting a new computer. (synical humor).
