Well, if your idea of a fun night is hanging out at half-assed clubs, I guess that's what you get.
I have no idea of where you live, but aren't there any PARENTS in charge anymore?
Hate to sound like an old person, but things weren't that bad when I was a teen. Kids nowadays!

How can you "look generations back" when you're only 19 years old? Truth is, in your grandparents day, child abuse went almost completely unreported and unpunished. Unless a parent beat their child (or spouse) badly enough to send them to the hospital, it was brushed under the rug and people looked the other way. Sexual molestation was also a matter held in secret. Today, sexual predators charged with abusing children get VERY harsh sentences, but in previous generations it just wasn't as out in the open. That's why today we have so many men and women in their 30s, 40s, 50s and older just now coming forward about being molested by their priests when they were children. As for parents today, I think that while there are some negative trends, parents today are overall doing MUCH better than previous generations. Fathers today spend almost twice as much time with their children as they did in the 1950s. Mothers spend more hours with their kids, too, even with the majority of mothers now in the workforce. Also, with so many methods of birth control, we're seeing far fewer "oops" babies, and teen pregnancy has been on a steady decline the last couple of decades. In addition to that, people of your generation (the Millenials) have been noted as being more involved in volunteerism and politics than some proceeding generations, you're more tech-savvy, more open to alternative work situations like flex-time, you're more tolerant when it comes to matters of race, religion, and sexual orientation, you exhibit high levels of confidence, creativity, and openness to change, and also happen to have the highest enrollment in college of ANY generation. All in all, "parents today" are still doing a pretty good job. Who would have thought that parents would someday become so loving and involved in their children's lives that it would actually become a problem? Definitely a huge turn-around from a little over a century ago where parents sent their children to work in factories to help support the family, and unwanted children were dumped on the streets to grow up as homeless orphans. I think today's kids have it pretty great.

These types of things having been going on for many, many generations. Teen girls who got pregnant at 14-17 "Went to stay at their sister's house for the summer" and put their children up for adoption (very hush hush, it's not like nowadays where the girls continue to go to school and everyone sees them pregnant). Kids smoked and drank in the 1800's even.
In the 60's & 70's, the motto was "Sex, Drugs and Rock n Roll".
Grandmas & Grandpas seem real straight edge, but I'm sure they had their fair share of bad things they did when they were teens.
