Neosporin is not in tended for internal use on animals OR humans....its only suppossed to be used topically or on the outside of the body...hence it could possibly cause illness to a dog if you used it on them because most animals lick & clean their wounds, which would cause accidental ingestio of teh Neosporin which in some cases could cause illness......so basically if you want to use it on your pet make sure the wound is COMPLETELY covered & keep an eye on your pet at all times to be sure they dont get into the bandages. It says right on the package not for internal use......in fact Ive heard of people saying not to use it on chapped lipps as it can make you sick it you ingest it....I use it but then again I dot EAT my chapsticks or lick it all off my lips the point of using it is to HEAL you lips & it cant do that if you lick it all off

You can use neosporin but not the complete stuff. That has painkillers which is bad for animals if ingested. The regular stuff is better. Products designed for children may be better. Consult a vet if you have problems or other questions. A phone call can usually help with general questions.

Ask a vet about your specific animal. Just because it's OK for humans does not mean it's OK for other animals. For example, antibiotics with steroids in them will cause some animals, such as alpacas, to abort.

Never medicate an animal without first consulting your vet.

Neosporin is not harmful. You should be able to use this without problems on your pet. My daughter is a medicator at our local animal rescue (and on her way to becoming a veterinarian) and they use this all the time there. This has been advised by the rescue's vets.

No, it's not harmful. Just use a minimal amount in case it's in an area where they can lick it. Even if they lick it, it won't be harmful. i don't know how big the wound is, but even a small scratch or bite can become infectious and cause the animal to become sick. Watch for signs of lethargy, or acting strange to know if there is an infection.

Never use any type of medicine intended for humans only on animals. It could harm them.
