Think about it. You're sitting at home, minding your own business, raising a family, playing games...then suddenly these strange people come along. They burn down your home, kill your family, exterminate your food source, denounce your gods, and force you to worship their god on pain of death. I think I would be pretty upset if that happened to me, and I would fight back. The frontier settlers invaded an already populated place and claimed it as their own. The indigenous people of the country we call America had a darn good reason to attack frontier settlements...

As the frontier settlements were the advance guard of the drive to take their hunting grounds and everything else off them, I think it would make pretty good sense to attack them.

There were many different reasons for many different attacks. Many native americans lived at peace and traded with the settlers. Likewise many settlers lived at peace and traded with the native americans. The clash of cultures was too much change for most humans to deal with without resorting to instinctual urges of violence.

There was a prophecy that their colony would be taken over by some outsiders. When the White men got to America, they saw them as the outsiders of the prophecy. That was the main reason for the attacks.

To kill the white people. Most native tribes were made up of a few hundred families so they thought that the total number of whites were a few hundred families, also. They had no idea of the number of white people in the US. They figured if they killed enough whites, the rest would give up and go away.

Form a country. Be the ruler for many years. Suddenly, some strange people decide to build cities on YOUR land. Aren't you going to be mad?
