I am a total prep, but I love Madina Lake, Paramore and Boys like Girls. Of course my all time favorite band though is the Jonas Brothers. They rock, but I am still unsure if I should tell some of my friends who are emo/punk that I like these artists? Would they think I am trying to be a poser, etc. I'm not sure please help me out!

You have the right to like whatever music you choose, and if they are your friends they wont judge you because of that. Maybe you should try not to pidgeonhole yourself as a 'prep' it isn't all about labels.

First of all, those bands aren't emo. If you don't know what emo is, don't use it.
Second, since when are there such things as prep bands? Did I miss the memo when someone came up with yet another pointless label?
Third, why in the world would you care what other people think of your music taste, especially your friends. They should like you for who you are and not for your clothes and style.
Fourth, Paramore and Boys Like Girls are more along the lines of pop/rock, so you have nothing to worry about in case you want to keep living your life as yet another "prep". Madina Lake is more along alternative.
Fifth, you are a poser. Your addiction with keeping the right image and trying to be something you aren't is great proof of that.

Grow up, move on with stupid stereotypes, and stop caring so much about other people's opinions.

Ok, so you're total prep, like Madina Lake, Paramore, and Boys like Girls, you have punk friends, and you're wondering if they'll accept your liking of Jonas Brothers? Well, I suppose they will, so tell em'!

You're being very stereotypical. People don't need to act or dress a certain way to be able to "fit in" with or like a certain music genre or band. If you honestly like and enjoy the music you say you do, then don't be afraid of what others will think about it, because if you worry about it, then you're not proud of who you are because you're not able to stand up for the music you enjoy. If your friends think you're a poser or whatever, then apparently they aren't your true friends.

Remember, it's better to be hated for who you are, than to be loved for who you aren't. That quote means a whole lot to me, and you should think about it and meditate on it for a few minutes, yourself.

your not a poser. the girl above me is clearlier the poser. seeing as she doesnt even know you. anyways, you can listen to whatever kind of music you want, why should it matter what other people think? thosse bands that you listed arent that hardcore anyways so i see no porblem. im probably what you would call some of those other girls, but hey i still love hannah montana ^_^ so who cares

umm all of those bands you mentioned are "preppy" so i dont see why that would make you a poser.

and if your friends judge you only by the music you listen to then i wouldnt want to be friends with them anyway

Umm, if you are indeed preppy, I would expect you to listen to those kind of bands. Boys Like Girls is a prep kind of band.

first of all, stereotypes are ridiculous. you shouldn't care what they say, nor should you really be labeling yourself. people are free to express themselves however they want. music is a way of expression. these artists make music for people to enjoy and connect with. it isn't about what type of person you are. it's about how the music makes you feel. like whatever kind of music you want be proud to call yourself a fan.

im more preppy too. i c nothing wrong with it considering i listen to all of that too. well...except the jonas brothers. lol. i dont think anyone should be labeled "preppy" or "punk" its just dumb. listen to what you want to listen to and what you acutally like. forget what anyone else says.
