Probably, at least in the U.S. I know other countries have royalty, but I don't know as much about them as I do Queen Elizabeth. I'm sure it's because our media tends to report on her more.

The British royals get the most press attention, followed by the Monaco royals(because of Grace Kelly). But other royal houses are recognized as well, just go to http://www.theroyalforums.com
to keep up with the royals of Sweden,Luxembourg,Spain, the world!
Some of us Americans do speak other languages as well and are able to read foreign magazines and keep up with other royal families, which is often the only way to keep up,because American news media pays most attention the the Brits,or the chaotic American celebrities.

Because our history is more strongly tied to Britain than any other country, as we were once a British colony.

Kinda a contradiction, isn't it? We fought against the Brits to become free, and remained enemies for some time, and it was, after all, royalty, in large part that we were protesting, yet we are completely enamored of them today....part of that is the fact that we have no royalty, and sort of want to have, but the closest thing we have is Hollywood. And look who that is these days: Brittney Spears and her sister, Lindsay Lohan, and Paris Hilton. No class. No common sense...is it any wonder we turn back to the exact same family that we broke away from two hundred years ago as role models?

Probably the reason that the US notices the UK royals is because we started out as an English colony.

Because of the close common history we share with Britain; common interests, laws, languages, etc. Also, in many fables and stories, things such as the Tower of London, and King Arthur, make people think of English royalty automatically. It is really sad that the other royal houses of the world are not as popular.

I agree with previous answers that maybe one of the reasons is the prevalence of the english language.

I also believe that the many scandalas in which the UK royal family has been involved has made people interests soar.

It is a pity that the royalty of other countries is kind of snubbed by the US media. Some royal countries include Belgium, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Spain, Nepal, Brunai.

Simply put, more people worldwide read and speak English both as native speakers and as English as a Second Language than Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish, or Japanese, although there are certainly enough Spanish speakers to be interested in Spanish royalty. Also, bicycle monarchies aren't half as glamorous or as wealthy as British royalty.

I believed the main reason is that our culture developed from and we were once a colony of England, also we speak English.
