Theres a new kid at my school and he is a really nice guy and ive become friends with him. Ive pretty much put 2 and 2 together and figured out that his dad is beating him.
(odd bruises; behavior; wont take anyone to his house; random anger)
His mom is dead and its just him and his dad.

What do I do?
Do I just leave it alone or tell someone?

This is a tough position to be in, it's hard, I know.

You need to let someone know about this immediately. You knowing about the situation are as much responsible as the father himself because you are 100% aware. I would recommend telling a guidance counselor or a teacher, or if you or your friend is religious you could go to a minister or preacher. Please tell as much as you know as soon as possible. The sooner you tell, the sooner your friend will get out of the situation. Good luck to you and I'll be praying for your friend!

Really the best thing to do is to tell an adult you trust. Invite him to your home, and talk to him or have your parents do it. His father might be having a hard time coping with the death of his wife and allowing anger to get the best of him. I suggest not judging but offering help to the son and let the adults sort out the other stuff. God Bless.

You definately need to tell someone about this. Tell the counselor or a teacher. You need to know that you are risking your friendship with this person so be prepared for that. If your friend figures out that you said something, they may take it personally and be angry with you, but you can be guaranteed that they will appreciate what you did for them later on in life. I think you are a good person for wanting to help this person. Definately need to tell someone.

I'm sorry. I really dont know what to do in a position like this. But I will just warn you. DONT call kids help line or any of those so called places you can call to get help. They trace your phone calls and get your address so that cops can make drug busts and stuff. And of course when theres violence and stuff like that involved theres usually drugs involved also. I'm just warning you dont call any of those places.

And yes by all means tell a school counselor or your mum or something.

Talk to your parents and see if he can stay with you for a couple days, and well he is there try to get a P.S rep over there. thell do something but he might end up in foster care. If he is almost 16 he could try to become emancipated. Ask him what is going on first, try to get him to tell you.

Call Child Protective Services, they will investigate the situation. You can do this without them even asking your name. Good Luck. So sorry to hear that your friend is going through that.

I would tell someone. He is all alone dealing with this and might not know what to do. Help him out.

Be brave... tell someone you trust. It will be hard for everyone, but if you're sure, you are doing a great service for your fellow!! You could keep him alive.
